Nature and Landscape
Paintings of nature and landscapes, from life or from memory, are ways for me to merge with the mystery. The natural world reminds me that there is always movement, change, and seasons — and that I am as much a part of it as the leaves on the trees.
Run, Observe, Create (2024)
These paintings grow from runs on rural Virginia roads and trails. I pause and observe - a resonant connection with nature - then bring the moment back to the studio, where patterns emerge from nature’s chaos, rhythmic growth, and a runner’s high. I use photos from the road or trail as a visual reference and memory as an energetic one.

Quiet Observation (2021-2023)
These quiet paintings begin with energetic marker drawings of observations in nature. The drawings then go to the studio and inform the painting. This approach adds a step between direct observation, which allows for imagination to fill in the space between.
